Why everyone keeps coming back.

Captain D's in Columbus, GA, is a welcoming seafood and American family restaurant that strikes a perfect balance between fast food convenience and satisfying comfort food. Nestled conveniently on Victory Drive, this spot is known for serving up hot, fresh seafood with a friendly, respectful atmosphere that makes every visit feel like a small celebration of classic American flavors.

The menu is a treasure trove for seafood lovers, offering everything from crispy, golden-battered clam strips to the ever-popular butterfly shrimp, available in both 5- and 10-piece options—perfect for sharing or savoring solo. For those who prefer grilled options, the Wild Alaska Salmon Meal and the Grilled White Fish Meal offer a light yet hearty choice, served on a bed of fluffy rice alongside two sides and a warm breadstick. Each dish is carefully seasoned and cooked to perfection, appealing to your senses with tender, flaky textures and bold, savory notes.

If you love appetizers, the Mozzarella Sticks and Jalapeño Poppers bring a zesty kick and gooey delight, ideal starters that set the tone for a delicious meal. Beverage options, including D’s famous sweet or unsweet iced tea, and a range of sodas, add refreshing balance to every bite, while the gallon-sized tea or lemonade options make Captain D’s a perfect pick for family gatherings or sharing with friends.

Customers frequently praise the warm and courteous service here—the staff greet you with a smile and go out of their way to provide great recommendations, as first-timer Xander Babbitt fondly noted. While a few have mentioned occasional hiccups like overcooked hush puppies or the slightly smaller shrimp size, the overwhelmingly positive feedback highlights that the food consistently arrives hot and fresh, straight from the fryer to your plate, preserving that satisfying crunch and bold flavor.

Dining at Captain D’s isn’t rushed; it’s about enjoying a hearty American seafood meal in a relaxed setting where families and friends alike can reconnect over flavorful classics without breaking the bank. Whether you’re craving richly seasoned grilled fish or crave those iconic fish and chips, this location offers a dependable, flavorful experience with a friendly Southern charm that invites you back again and again.

Good food hot and fresh. I placed a to go order and for some reason didn't look at it. That's unusual at Captain D's. However the only complaint I had was the hush puppies were overcooked. To the point of my not being able to eat them. The only black mark on our orders. Still a good simple meal.

Greated with a happy face. Latora took my order. Friendly and thankful. Ordered Deluxe Seafood Platter and shrimp. One thing your not gonna get is cold food. It's right out of the fryer burn your face off hot. Shrimp are small. Size of a nickel. Do better.

The food and the people are always wonderful. But on yesterday I was surprised by the very rude way a co-worker was treated by cook/MGT the young lady was learning made a mistake trying to satisfy a customer, A then she fussed at the new employee loud and infront of all customers. Truly out of place for this store.

I went there tonight to get the lobster rolls and I let them know last time they didn't put a lot of lobster meat on them. This time they put a good amount on there and they are delicious!
